Why convert STL to GLB?

GLB is the format for the web, AR and game engines: a single file that can carry geometry, materials and textures together.

If the source file is broken, with holes, flipped faces or stray fragments, convert it after repairing it, since a converter carries the same problems across.

Questions

Is the file uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device and there is no size queue or account to create.
What is kept, and what is lost?
Geometry is kept exactly, every triangle and vertex. Materials, textures and colours are not carried across, because GLB either cannot store them or would need the texture files alongside it.
Will the model change size?
Dimensions stay as they are unless you pick a scale. The scale selector exists because glTF is written in metres by convention while slicers read millimetres, which is the single most common reason a converted model looks wrong.
Can I drop a different format in?
Yes. The tool reads STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB and embedded glTF whatever page you are on, and works out the format from the file itself rather than its name, so a GLB saved as .stl still opens.
Do I need an account or to sign up?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email, and no limit: the tool runs in your browser, so there is nothing to meter. Use it as often as you like, on as many files as you like.
